It is the most famous Protestant museum. It was opened in 1911 in the birthplace of Camisard chief Pierre Laporte, nicknamed Roland, and enlarged in the twentieth century with a memorial of martyrs, prisoners and exile
In the museum of history, the visitor finds the reconstruction of a peaceful Cevennes interior and also the evocation of a family worship at the time of hiding
Also exhibited are religious objects from the era of forbidden worships : retractable pulpits, cups of communion removable, psalters of bun, bibles found in walls where they had been buried for fear of search.
